Sunshine Coast business Smokey‘s Char Grill Burger Bar for sale after owner transformed it

When a Sunshine Coast mother bought her own burger joint in 2017, she knew it was going to take an incredible amount of work and commitment to turn it into the place of her dreams. Here’s how she made her dream a reality:

When Salome Booth first took over her burger store in the Sunshine Coast hinterland in late 2017, the former bakery manager knew turning the failing business around would be no mean feat.

But the mum-of-two committed to the challenge after seeing its potential and worked furiously to transform it from a “very poor” venue to the thriving business it is today.

She said an overhaul of practices and commitment to customer service through being “picky” about her new staff helped build the business she dreamt of.

“I put a lot of hard work into it,” she said.

Now after years of tireless work, Mrs Booth is preparing to hand over her “baby” for new owners to make their own.

Smokey’s Char Grill Burger Bar is an eatery tucked away in a shopping complex along Peachester Rd, Beerwah, known for its yummy burgers, chips, and gravy.

Mrs Booth said she made the emotional decision to place the business on the market early this year, after proudly seeing it not only survive the pressures of them pandemic, but flourish despite lockdowns and economic pressures.

While she admits it will be difficult to let go, Mrs Booth said she was optimistic it would be snapped up in a fast-growing town with a diverse population.

Mrs Booth said to semi-retire following the sale and focus on dog breeding.
