A uniquely rare Sunshine Coast produced vodka has been recognised as the world’s best at an internationally-acclaimed award ceremony.
Sunshine and Sons’ Original Vodka secured the World’s Best Botanical Vodka title at the World Vodka Awards in the United Kingdom overnight.
The award-winning drop is one of less than five per cent of vodkas globally that are produced from grapes and rated highly with the expert judging panel.
The vodka is made with a filtration system unique to its natural location on the Sunshine Coast, using millennia old volcanic rock giving the vodka a minerality that is often described as ‘floral pepperiness’.
Sunshine and Sons founder Matt Hobson was pleased to see his product recognised as the world’s best in the botanical category.
“Industry acknowledgment is always a fantastic boost for any business and we are no exception,” Mr Hobson said.
“Our team pours their heart and soul into producing quality spirits for people to enjoy with their loved ones.”
Mr Hobson added that the accolade comes as the team behind the Woombye-based business prepare to visit Europe to attend trade and industry events, with a view to export their products internationally.
“Sunshine and Sons is about sunshine, quality time with family and friends and escaping to the laid back lifestyle of Australia’s beautiful sub-tropical Sunshine Coast,” he said.
“Now, with the backing of this accolade, we’re on a mission to take a slice of what we’re about to the Europeans and Brits.”
