RIDESHARE service Didi has launched a new high-hygiene product to provide peace of mind to exploring passengers in the post-pandemic world.

DiDi Care has been introduced to its fleet on the Sunshine Coast, as well as Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Newcastle and Melbourne.

As restrictions ease, DiDi Care will use a hi-tech powered program to ensure increased hygiene measures for its drivers.

Drivers will be required to take photographs to verify that they are wearing masks and carrying disinfectant products in their vehicles prior to being given daily access to accept DiDi Care trips.

DiDi Australia general manager Lyn Ma said that process provided peace of mind to passengers “as people begin to reconnect face-to-face with their loved ones and return to their workplace and favourite cafes, bars and restaurants”.

“We thank our valued driver-partners who have not only provided essential travel to

Australians during what has been a difficult time, but who continue to provide this support as

restrictions ease across Australia,” he said.

“With the launch of DiDi Care, we are thrilled to be able to support our drivers with increased earning potential as they facilitate a more hygienic travel option as we begin our journey towards a new normal.”

DiDi will provide DiDi Care driver-partners with reimbursements for the purchase of

disinfectant products to help maintain hygiene standards.

Coast local driver Elizabeth Kenny joined DiDi about a month ago and hasn’t looked back.

“I have automatic doors, so customers just get in and go. I wipe down the seat and seatbelts every time they’re out, too,” Ms Kenny said.

“Hand sanitisers go with me everywhere.”

Having worked in rideshare companies for two years, she said it was a fantastic job for those semi-retired.

“I have the app on at home and you get the ding and off you go. It’s perfect for someone in my situation,” she said.
