Hello Harry's flagship Ocean St eatery will reopen in coming days after it temporarily closed due to COVID-19.

Owner of the popular burger chain, Rob McCue, said the closure allowed time for refurbishments to be completed.

Mr McCue said the Maroochydore store would reopen on Tuesday next week.

"The lease expired at essentially the same time as the COVID-19 health crisis hit and the State Government's initial severe trading restrictions were implemented," Mr McCue said.

"At that point we put on hold new lease negotiations and entered into a holding lease arrangement.

"Franchises have undertaken a refurbishment of the premises and the store reopens to all our fans on the 17th."

Restaurant closure clears path for unique new venture

Closure of Ocean St favourite makes way for new venue

Mr McCue said the sister Hello Harry franchises at Birtinya and Bulcock Beach were enjoying "awesome" trade.

"Sales are substantially up on last year not only on the Sunshine Coast but across all franchises, with some stores in excess of 50 per cent up on last year," he said.

Mr McCue said the Sunshine Plaza store would reopen on November 27 and several new locations were locked in for the first half of next year.

The reopening is among several changes to the Ocean St night-life strip with neighbouring restaurants Piano Bar and Machu Picchu to undergo a "rebirthing".
