Bar hopping through the Nambour CBD has gained another port of call after a popular Mexican restaurant unveiled the first of its major renovations.

A new bar has been completed to Currie St restaurant La Salsa De Vida and more changes have been planned.

The couple behind the venue, Troy Hofstede and Virginia Homer, have made a sizeable investment to make the new bar from scratch.

Already they are reaping the rewards.

“The timing went down to the wire when we opened the bar on Friday, but this weekend was our biggest we have ever had,” Ms Homer said.

“The response from the public has been amazing, everyone came down and supported us.”

The successful opening has given them a shot of confidence to go ahead with further changes.

They plan to create a stage for live music and add a seated licensed area out the front of Currie St.

The restaurant has been part of the Nambour CBD for three years and Ms Homer said the expansion had been in the works for 12 months.

Ms Homer said Nambour was slowly evolving from a place where businesses came and went to those who stayed long-term.

“Some open and close within months, but there’s been a lot of interest since the entertainment precinct was announced,” she said.

“You can absolutely see people bar hopping through Nambour now, I think that’s on the cards.

“That’s why we built the bar, to tap into the entertainment.

“Soon there will be a selection of places to go to for any given day, not just the RSL.”

Ms Homer said “extensive” research had gone into the drinks menu which includes frozen slushy margaritas and pina coladas which pack a punch.
