THE brains behind two popular bar and eateries is set to expand his empire, with a new late-night spot on the way for the Ocean St precinct.

Joey Sandagon, owner of The Good Bar Mooloolaba and Juan Fifty Kitchen and Bar, and his team were busily fitting out a new late-night spot coming to Maroochydore's Ocean St.

The Drunken Dumpling would be "something the Sunshine Coast hasn't seen before", Mr Sandagon vowed.

He said the new venue would have handmade and fusion dumplings, and there would be a "little secret" for people.

"The fit-out will be amazing," Mr Sandagon said.

He said he got on the project "really late" and the opportunity came up just before December.

Mr Sandagon said they were hoping to have the new venue open by the end of February.

The new venue was being established in the Ocean Point complex on the corner of Ocean St and Duporth Ave, which replaced a number of historic shops identified as a local heritage place.

Ocean Point planning documents revealed the ground floor of the complex was proposed to be made up of mixed retail and entertainment uses, including restaurants, bars and shops, while the upper level was set to house an office and a restaurant/bar tenancy.
