The company behind a $90m office tower in the making at the Maroochydore City Centre is expecting the project to create 800 new job opportunities upon completion.
Construction as started on Walker Corporation’s project 50 First Ave which will provide 15 floors of commercial opportunities.
Chief executive officer David Gallant said the development will set a “new standard” on the Sunshine Coast in terms of office space.
Mr Gallant said the project would attract big businesses to the region.
“50 First Ave will cater to companies looking for A-Grade offices in Maroochydore to support talent retention and capability growth in a highly connected lifestyle region,” he said.
It is expected construction would be completed mid-2025 with fit-outs starting prior from bottom floors upwards.
The building will feature a grand lobby space with soaring ceilings, concierge and cafe as well as a panoramic rooftop.
The company stated the tower includes “premium A-grade” office space with more than 1000sq m per floor.
According to the company the project is already “on the radar” for big Australian companies looking to tap into talent on the Sunshine Coast.
They said more than 800 jobs were earmarked for the tower’s 15 floors.
“50 First Ave has the ability to attract big tenants and create hundreds of great jobs for the future for our Sunshine Coast locals,” Mr Gallant said.
In addition to the building being built to achieve a 5-star energy rating, the release stated the inclusion of high-speed submarine cable will provide “some of the fastest data rates in the world.”
Queensland Deputy Premier Steven Miles said people are moving to the Sunshine Coast “in droves” due to employment opportunities and lifestyle.
“The Sunshine Coast is one of the fastest growing regions and developing economies in the country,” Mr Miles said.
“Maroochydore is the major economic hub of the Sunshine Coast and the Queensland Government will continue to support the delivery of this new city centre providing economic development and much needed infrastructure.”
Sunshine Coast Council Mayor Mark Jamieson said the development, the newest neighbour to the Sunshine Coast City Hall, will be “next-level” office accommodation with “outstanding sustainability credentials”.
Mr Jamieson said he is looking forward to the completion of the “first of many premium commercial projects” in the city centre.
SunCentral chair Morgan Parker said buildings such as 50 First Ave will become the “benchmark for our future success” as the city centre continues to grow.
