BADGE Sunshine Coast is delivering the new Caboolture Police Station under a new State Government initiative which guarantees employment opportunities for local businesses.
The $16.5million police station and district headquarters will be built on a new site on King St and works include the demolition of an existing water treatment plant facility.
Police Minister and Member for Morayfield Mark Ryan said the police station would be built under the new Buy Queensland initiative, providing hundreds of employment opportunities for local businesses.
"I am particularly pleased the construction will support local workers in construction, electrical, plumbing, security and landscaping, which is great news for Caboolture."
BADGE Sunshine Coast manager Andrew Lanskey says that BADGE is pleased to be working with the State Government on a project which supports local contractors.
"To meet the tender requirements, BADGE was able to demonstrate that all of our project subcontractors and suppliers (except one) are located in the local area," Andrew says.
"As one of the Sunshine Coast's leading commercial construction companies, we're proud to be working with local businesses to deliver this important project for the community."
The tender documentation also required an Indigenous Engagement Plan to be delivered.
BADGE will utilise its existing networks through its National Aboriginal Construction Partners Projects (NACP Projects) initiative to help provide opportunities to the local indigenous workforce.
Work has begun on stage one of the project which includes the clearing of the site to ready it for stage two works, which include the construction of the police station and headquarters facility and a 35 metre radio tower.
