ANIMALS of all shapes and sizes, from guinea pigs to dogs, are now in safe hands with an animal physiotherapy clinic making a home in Nambour.

Located in a house along Nambour Mapleton Rd, Holistic Animals’ Physiotherapy provides complete rehabilitation options for pets of all shapes and sizes.

Holistic animals’ physiotherapy owner and physiotherapist Brooke Williams said previously working in veterinary specialist centres across the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane birthed her dream to provide a stress-free clinic “from entry to exit”.

“It’s sort of been my dream to have a space that is set up purposely for rehab for animals and that’s trying to make it as stress free as possible for everyone involved,” Mrs Williams said.

“A lot of animals are very stressed going into the veterinary clinics either by the smells or the sounds and the slippery floors,” Mrs Williams said.

“So, having a house environment means they are so much more relaxed because it doesn’t feel like a clinic, it feels like a house.”

Nathan Owens has been a customer for more than five years and said the business’s new home was a much more peaceful environment to take his dogs.

“The carpark is grassed, so no hot paws, and the whole place is laid with non-slip flooring, which can be disastrous for an injured animal,” Mr Owens said.

Mrs Williams began her career as a human physiotherapist but gradually changed to working full time on animals after completing a degree in animal physiotherapy in 2003.

While some would be surprised to hear about a dog rehab centre, the business’s owner said it was no different to a human clinic.

“It’s exactly the same, it’s just working on a different species, they get all the same injuries and same problems that we get,” Mrs Williams said.

“We invest a lot in our pets there’re a member of the family and they have a much bigger role than they ever used to have so were certainly giving them a lot more care and attention,” Mrs Williams said.

The physiotherapist said she loved helping animals because they “just want to get better”.

“I really enjoy working out how you can reduce pain and then try and get them back to their best quality of life,” Mrs Williams said.

“It’s also really nice to educate owners on how they can manage their loved ones better it just empowers them to know what they can do.”
