A cracker of a deal for Nutworks

Sunshine Coast macadamia nut company reinforces its vision of future growth for the region.

SUNSHINE Coast macadamia nut company Nutworks has reinforced the company's vision for future growth with the recent acquisition of a 4000sq m site adjoining their facility in Pioneer Rd, Yandina.

The property was marketed by Colliers International agents Nick Dowling and Ben Flower on behalf of the Queensland Government's Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Environment and was sold by auction for $582,000.

Nutworks managing director Keith Ryan said that they have a long history in Yandina and in that time had developed a strong following and brand.

"We are positioning ourselves for future growth,'' he said, "and while we continue to work for the growers in our region, we are also now having real success adding value to our product through more confectionery lines.''

Colliers International's Nick Dowling added that Nutworks was one of a number of food related businesses that call Yandina home and the sale to Nutworks reinforces the vision of the Sunshine Coast Council to see a cluster of food manufacturers in the town.

He added that the sale of the site had been a long time coming, having been listed for sale for more than 10 years.

"We put a proposal up to the Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Environment to try and generate interest in the property and bring the site back into focus again,'' he said.

"Our strategy worked quite well with a number of registered bidders on auction day resulting in competitive bidding.

"The sale continues a strong run of industrial land sales in the past six months times with over 30 lots selling between Noosa, Coolum, Yandina and Caloundra, which is double that of previous years.''
