A Sunshine Coast family business is reeling after a man broke into their restaurant and stole cash.

The owners of Sippy’s Burger Bar and Takeaway posted CCTV footage to Facebook of a man breaking into their other shop, Mr McGee’s Pizza and Pasta, on November 3 at 12.30am.

They said it felt like their hard work and “safe space” was violated after a man broke into their restaurant this week.

“Our small family business was broken into,” the caption read.

“Around 12.30am Monday morning (Sunday night) someone broke into our other shop Mr McGee’s Pizza and Pasta, located at the IGA complex in Sippy Downs.”

This comes after a string of break-ins in the Kawana Waters area on October 29, with a car and children’s birthday money being stolen.

The pizza shop post stated the man stole a petty cash tin, but as “other small family businesses know it’s never about the money”.

“It’s the feeling of having your hard work and safe space violated,” the caption read.

The owners are calling for people to contact police if they saw anything suspicious.

“The man wore a white shirt, dark pants, a black cross-body bag, and socks on his hands,” the caption read.

“If anyone saw something suspicious around that time, please let police know.

“If you recognise the individual, please report it to police or reach out to us privately.”
The business acknowledged the community for its support.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said officers were investigating the break-in.

“The person reportedly stole the till and left the scene,” she said.

“Investigations are ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact police.”
