Building company, Intouch Homes, applies to wind up Sunshine Coast roofing business

A Sunshine Coast roofing business director has detailed a dispute with a building company over alleged inadequate work that has led to a court hearing, as the corporate regulator begins dramatic action to wind up his business.

A Supreme Court hearing regarding the winding up of Nakroofing will take place next month.
A Supreme Court hearing regarding the winding up of Nakroofing will take place next month.

An application to wind up a Currimundi-based roofing company will be heard in the Supreme Court next month as the corporate regulator begins a dramatic strike-off action.

Australian Securities and Investments Commission documents stated the company Nakroofing Pty Ltd, directed by Nathan Andrew King, 34, was first registered in August 2020.

The ASIC report on the company lists the status as having a “strike-off action in progress”.

The documents revealed the business operated from a residential address in Currimundi.

Mr King said the dispute between his company and the building company he worked for as a sub-contractor for, Intouch Homes Pty Ltd, involved a number of houses.

However, Mr King claimed the issues regarding his roofing were not handled appropriately by Intouch Homes and the $120,000 figure he is alleged to owe is unreasonable.

“They could have asked what has happened here and said let’s fix it,” Mr King said.

“They were easy fixes too, a couple of things didn’t get undersealed so water got in, but there was no need to rip up the entire roof.”

Mr King said he has worked as a roofer for 20 years, throughout eastern Australia, with limited issues.

“I have only ever had one issue and it is with this (company),” Mr King said.

“I need my business to live, to get by.”

An ASIC notice published on April 5, 2024 outlined the application to wind up the roofing business by Intouch Homes Pty Ltd.

According to the notice the hearing will take place in the Supreme Court in Brisbane on May 23 at 9.30pm and Intouch Homes have engaged the services of Everingham Lawyers.

Intouch Homes has been contacted for comment.
