A QFES spokeswoman said the fire was extinguished by 9.10am.

She said the van fire also sparked a small grass fire, however, both were under control.

Queensland Police said the northbound lanes were blocked to allow fire trucks easy passage through.

One driver stuck in traffic south of the fire said he had been at a standstill for more than 15 minutes.

A Queensland Police Service statement said the scene was cleared by 10.30am but “residual” delays were to be expected.
