A Palmwoods woman who injured another person driving dangerously while intoxicated asked the court for her lawyers to be dismissed on the day she was scheduled to be sentenced.

Bronwyn Sherie Holcombe appeared in Maroochydore District Court on February 26 alongside four supporters sitting in the public gallery.

She has been charged with dangerously operating a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm whilst affected by a substance and driving under the influence of liquor

Defence barrister Mark Dixon - who was initially to represent Holcombe on behalf of Legal Aid Queensland - said his client had dismissed the law firm of representing her.

Judge Glen Cash asked Holcombe to confirm if she no longer wished for Mr Dixon nor her Legal Aid lawyer Rachel Holland to represent her.

“Not anymore, no,” Holcombe said.

She told the court she would be contacting a privately-funded lawyer in hopes of being represented on another occasion.

Holcombe was then arraigned by the court and entered pleas of guilty to both charges.

The court heard on September 9, 2022 she drove dangerously on Chevallum Rd, Palmwoods and had caused grievous bodily harm to another woman.

Her matter was adjourned to March 15 for mention.
