HERE'S some news to brighten up your day: the hit musical Kinky Boots is coming to Brisbane from August 22.
We're still intoxicated by My Fair Lady right now but the big musicals just keep on coming.
And Kinky Boots, which is winding up in Melbourne and heading to Sydney soon, will grace QPAC's Lyric Theatre and it is expected to be huge.
Based on the much-loved 2005 British film, it features Tony and Grammy Award- winning songs by pop icon Cyndi Lauper with a book by Broadway royalty Harvey Fierstein and direction and choreography by Jerry Mitchell.
This story about a bankrupt shoe factory turning to kinky footwear to get out of a financial hole is delightful.
Australian producer Michael Cassel has the stars of the show, Callum Francis and Toby Francis, a former member of The Ten Tenors, in Brisbane this week for the big announcement and to show us some of their moves.
Cassel says we're going to love it.
"This show has left a glittery mark on Melbourne where it played to packed houses and standing ovations each night of its five-month run,” Cassel said this week.
"Audiences of all ages have connected with its universal message while being swept up in the incredible music and roof-raising performances from our incomparable cast.
"I know Brisbane audiences are going to embrace this huge-hearted hit.”
We're now waiting to hear if Cyndi Lauper will be coming to town for the show.
Tickets are now on sale to the general public at www.qpac.com.au.
