The 24-year-old was arrested after police tracked a stolen Toyota Corolla to a carpark near Poinciana Ave, Tewantin, on March 20, with the help of Polair.
Defence solicitor Merinda Greenwood told the court the police case against Mr Moore was strong, however there were suitable bail conditions that could allow him to be released from custody.
Ms Greenwood agreed photos showed what appeared to be shortened firearm found in the car, stating it “looks like a weapon of that nature”.
“The weapon was located in the vehicle and the vehicle was located in the car park so I can see on prima facie that my learned friend does have a strong case,” Ms Greenwood said.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Mel Pyke told the court Mr Moore was a “prolific offender” with a history of breaching bail conditions.
“There are no bail conditions that will ameliorate the risk the defendant presents,” Sgt Pyke said.
Magistrate Rod Madsen told the court it was concerning Mr Moore was on bail for “serious offences” at the time he was alleged to have stolen a car and possessed a handgun in public.
Mr Madsen refused bail and ordered Mr Moore to appear back before the court on May 12, 2025.
