Cooroy fatal crash: Local man dies after horror motorbike crash

A Cooroy man has died after a motorcycle crash in the Noosa hinterland despite the best efforts of motorists who tried to save him. WATCH THE VIDEO

Fatal Noosa Hinterland motorbike crash

A 49-year-old Cooroy man has died after his motorbike crashed off the side of the road late Monday afternoon despite the efforts of other drivers to save his life.

Sunshine Coast Police acting Senior Sergeant Chris Elder said the cause of the tragedy was unknown at this stage.

“It appears that he’s veered off to the shoulder of the road and we don’t know what’s gone on from there,” Senior Sergeant Elder said.

Senior Sergeant Elder confirmed the man was local to the area and said passing motorists in two cars stopped to help, giving CPR to desperately try and save the man’s life until emergency services arrived.

Emergency services also attempted to resuscitate the man however he died from his injuries.

Senior Sergeant Elder said police were called to the Lawnville Rd, Cooroy scene about 5.15pm Monday.

Early investigations indicate just before 5pm the man was riding north on Lawnville Rd when he lost control on a bend in the road and came to a stop in a spoon drain.

Lawnville Rd remained closed to traffic for hours after the incident as Forensic Crash Unit officers investigate the crash and tow truck operators cleared the scene.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the moments leading up to the crash.
