A fire investigator will head out to the scene of a fire behind a set of commercial premises in a busy street overnight.
A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said four crews attended a fire at Currie St, Nambour just after midnight on Thursday after a smoke detection alarm was activated.
The first crew to arrive could not initially see the fire but smelt smoke, eventually locating the blaze on the ground floor behind commercial premises, the spokeswoman said.
The apartment above the commercial premises was evacuated as a safety precaution.
The spokeswoman said the building suffered smoke damage and crews put out the fire by 1.30am.
The incident was handed over to police and a fire investigator will head to the scene, the spokeswoman said.
Paramedics attended but were not required.
