Anthony Cameron’s daughter pays tribute to Mooloolaba man after his tragic death

‘He was one of my best friends’: Anthony Cameron’s daughter says her heart is broken after the body of her father was found in Sunshine Coast bushland.

The daughter of Mooloolaba man Anthony Cameron says her heart is broken after the loss of her best friend.

Dr Cameron has been remembered as a beloved member of the Mooloolaba community and a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Police found his body in Landsborough on Wednesday after authorities had issued a public appeal for help in their search for him.

His death is not being treated as suspicious.

Its impact on the community has been profound and triggered an outpouring of emotion on social media.

Dr Cameron is survived by his wife Kathryn, children Jane, Sarah, Natarscha, Kayne, Jasmyn and Nathan and grandchildren Ivy, Olive, Adelaide, Spencer, Seth, Fynn, Oscar, Amity and Winston.

A 10th grandchild is on the way.

His daughter Jane Holmes said her family was trying to come to terms with the loss of the 62-year-old.

“He was the most beautiful dad and pa to all his grandchildren,” Ms Homes said.

“His family was everything to him.

“He was one of my best friends and my heart is completely broken.”

Dr Cameron moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2005 and worked at Dentistry First Mooloolaba, which has been closed.

Ms Holmes said her father was a popular figure in the community.

“You couldn’t walk down the esplanade with him without him waving to café owners, bumping into patients or shaking hands,” she said.

“We’ve received so many touching messages which has been a beautiful reminder of the impact he had on other’s lives.”

Ms Holmes said she and her sister Sarah shared fond memories of camping trips and their dad being an eager spectator for netball games and dance concerts.

“I remember us looking up at the skies with his telescope, he just loved this country,” she said.

She said her dad closed his dental surgery some Fridays for camping weekends.

“He was such a supportive spectator, standing in the freezing cold watching netball games and sitting through hours long dance concerts for about 20 years,” she said.

She said family was often Dr Cameron’s topic of conversation.

“He was embarrassingly proud,” Ms Holmes said.

“I felt sorry for his patients having to sit through all the chats about us and his grandchildren.”
