A CONDAMINE man and a Victorian tourist were airlifted to hospital after separate incidents at Fraser Island last night.
The 38-year-old Queensland man suffered head and facial injuries in a sand boarding accident at Waddy Point.
Friends made the 000 call for help and the AGL Action Rescue Helicopter departed within minutes of receiving the job about 6pm.
Pilot Andrew Caton used a search light to set the helicopter down on the beach not far from the accident scene.
Dr Luke Burman and Flight Paramedic Mick Webster treated the man's injuries and loaded him on board.
Mr Webster said the crew were preparing to leave when they received a second emergency call of a woman suffering a snake bite.
"Just down at Kingfisher Bay Resort a woman had been bitten by a brown coloured snake," he said.
The 41 year old woman from Victoria had been bitten on the back of her left heel.
Dr Burman remained on board with the first patient while Mr Webster went and assessed the woman's condition.
"Her husband had administered first aid by applying a pressure bandage and immobilising her leg," Mr Webster said.
"Her condition was stable but needed to be monitored so we got her on board as well and departed for Hervey Bay Hospital."
Pilot Andrew Caton said the twin rescue from separate incidents made it a long but not unusual night.
"Getting one job after another is not uncommon for us, and because we were already on Fraser Island we were able to get to our second patient quickly which was great".
Both patients were airlifted to Hervey Bay Hospital and are in a stable condition.
