Black smoke has blanketed a busy Sunshine Coast road after a van burst into flames on Friday morning with dramatic vision captured on the ground and in the air.

Black smoke has blanketed a busy Sunshine Coast road after a van burst into flames on Friday morning.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said crews responded to calls made about 11am that a car on Nicklin Way in Wurtulla was on fire.

The spokesman said the fire was out at 11.30am and the van, which was completely burnt out, was left with police.

Footage shows the white van fully engulfed in flames on the left shoulder of the road.

A Queensland Police spokesman said the smoke had created a vision hazard for drivers but there were no road closures in place.

There were no threats to surrounding property and no one was inside the van at the time.
