BUSINESS owners in Buderim are growing a network of clients without the hassle of pricey advertising.

A group of like-minded professionals make up Team Momentum, a chapter of the Business Network International company that aims to grow their businesses through a referral process.

Members of the group recommend each other to anyone who may need a particular service that another member would be able to provide, therefore introducing them to a larger market.

BNI Team Momentum president Shaun Long said it was a "far better way to do business”, as members are actively supporting one another in providing clients.

"It's not about who you know, it's about who knows you.

"I believe that networking in this way is essential to tap into the market because the Sunshine Coast is a small world,” he said.

The group runs on a first in best dressed basis, Mr Long said, as no two people with the same profession can join at one time to ensure a level of exclusivity.

Since joining last year, Team Momentum member Brent Westbury said he has received multiple clients from the referral process for his business Charge Rite Electrical.

However, Mr Westbury said he has most enjoyed being connected to like-minded professionals the most.

"There's the referral side of things which is generating more business, but beyond that the network of people as far as support for business goes, is amazing.

"I couldn't put a value on that support,” he said.

The BNI Team Momentum Chapter is hosting a professional networking breakfast at the Buderim Tavern on Thursday the 21st.
