The 21-year-old driver, from Maroochydore, was yesterday charged with one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing grievous bodily harm.
She is expected to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on October 22.
The mother of the girl on the e-scooter spoke to this publication the day of the crash.
“She was travelling up a hill when she saw the car backing out of the driveway,” the mother said.
“She tried to swerve but it all happened so fast.
“She was wearing a bright pink helmet from Anaconda which saved her life.”
Although shaken and heartbroken, the mother did not blame the 21-year-old woman driving.
