Isolated storms broadly possible across central and southeast parts of the state today. Slight risk of very isolated severe storms with damaging winds and large hail in #SEQLD this afternoon and early evening. Warnings: https://t.co/FBmpsInT9opic.twitter.com/tEysldN4E9
Meanwhile, Brisbane had tops of 10mm, while Maroochydore had just 4mm and Springbrook in Gold Coast saw around 17mm.
The rest of the day should see totals of around 10mm to 15mm, but there will also be a chance of higher isolated totals with the possibility of severe thunderstorms, damaging winds and large hail in parts of South East Queensland this afternoon, according to BOM meteorologist Brooke Pagel.
“From Wide Bay inland, to Gayndah and down south including Brisbane and Gold Coast, there will be a small chance of thunderstorms, damaging winds and large hail,” she said.
“But if the storms do develop, they’ll be very isolated rather than covering the large area.”
Ms Pagel said for the remainder of the south east region this afternoon, isolated showers will be likely, but going forward it should be a sunny weekend ahead.
“It will be clearing up tomorrow, and even overnight. We may see some rain hovering around but once we don’t have the heat to power those storms at night, they’ll eventually die out,” she said.
Brisbane is set to see tops of 23C today, before the sun warms everything up on the weekend with Saturday expecting tops of 26C and 25C on Sunday.
“It’ll be mostly sunny days, a bit of fog in the morning, but generally a beautiful sunny spring weekend ahead,” she said.
