Brisbane’s most popular fun run has been postponed as Covid-19 restrictions remain in place for several weeks following the state’s latest Delta outbreak.
The Sunday Mail Transurban Bridge to Brisbane would now take place on November 7 to ensure the safety and wellbeing of participants and the greater community.
Postponed from August 29, Sunday Mail editor Kelvin Healey said the event would now take place at the very best time for Queenslanders to enjoy the run for the event’s 25th anniversary.
“It will be a spectacular spring morning whether you’re trying to set a personal best time or planning to costume up and raise money for your favourite charity,” he said.
“We’ve just seen how good the postponed Tokyo Olympics were. Take advantage of the extra weeks of training and make this Bridge to Brisbane your best one yet.”
Registered participants would have their registrations automatically transferred to the new date, or could elect to take part in a virtual race.
Registrations could alternatively be moved to the 2022 event.
Eager competitor Sophie Mulheran said she was excited there was extra preparation time for the race.
“I’m glad that it gives more people a chance to sign up if they haven’t already,” she said.
