Store warning indicates positive case visited Mountain Creek Woolworths

Queensland Health is investigating after reports a COVID-19 positive patient or a close contact of theirs may have visited a Woolworths on the Sunshine Coast on March 22.

A Brisbane woman who has tested positive to COVID-19 was on the Sunshine Coast in March, Queensland Health has confirmed.

It follows reports a Sunshine Coast supermarket was deep cleaned after a person believed to have tested positive to COVID-19, or a close contact of theirs, visited the store.

The store is Mountain Creek Woolworths on Karawatha Drive.

According to a customer notice written by store manager Russell Semgreen, the person who tested positive visited the store on March 22 from 4.15-4.40pm.

“As a good retailer, we already have very high standards of cleaning and hygiene in place, and the store had a detailed deep clean overnight (Wednesday March 31),” the notice reads.

“The wellbeing of our customers, team and communities is our highest priority, we are taking all necessary steps to ensure ongoing safety in our stores.”

Queensland Health has since confirmed the case was not local, but the loaction may have been conneced to a Brisbane case, or one of their close contacts.

“There is currently no confirmed COVID-19 case in the Sunshine Coast community,” a spokesperson said.

“Queensland Health is performing a risk assessment of locations visited by a confirmed case from Brisbane and contacts of this case early last week. If there is a verified risk, we will identify exposure sites and times on our contact tracing page. We have identified more than 2000 contacts linked to the current clusters.”

Anyone who had been in the store on March 22 and became unwell should contact the Queensland Health hotline on 1800 020 080.

At this morning’s press conference the Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young stated that venues were constantly being added to the COVID venue list and Queenslanders should keep checking for new sites.
