Mr de Brenni will take the seat for his third term, possibly discounting Springwood as a traditional bellwether seat.

The main battle was between Mr de Brenni and the LNP’s Kirrily Boulton, who got 40.8 per cent two-party preferred.

The Greens Janina Leo scored more than 8 per cent of the primary vote with more than 20 per cent of the vote counted.

Mr de Brenni came under fire for claims that there were proposals to resurrect the Goss Government’s Koala corridor, which killed Labor in 1995.

Springwood is an important electorate because it has historically been a bellwether seat, going with government every time since 1986.

Mr de Brenni held the seat with a 3.6 per cent margin – near the bottom of the pendulum but not quite there.

The important issues revolved around roads, infrastructure, the M1, and creating a business hub in the area – which has so far seemed to have failed.

There were some grubby tactics with a pamphlet distributed personally attacking Mr de Brenni – which was not issued by the LNP.

Other issues raised include high vacancy rates in the Springwood Shopping precinct and the difficult access to that precinct where the LNP says it plans to unveil a new water play area.

Mr de Brenni promised to deliver the remaining stages of upgrades to the M1 and a busway to Loganholme.

New lights and crossing on Mount Cotton Road out the front of the school.

Other initiatives promised include

$9M - Stage 1 of the Mount Cotton State School Master Plan; $11M – for upgrades to Springwood State High School; $8.2M – new building including 10 general learning spaces at Shailer Park State High School; $200K – refurbish prep building at Chatswood Hills State School; $300K – refurbish Block C at Mount Cotton State School; $300K – refurbish Block B at Daisy Hill State School and $200K – refurbish Block C at Daisy Hill State School
