Moggill winner revealed: What it means for you

The LNP’s Dr Christian Rowan, Greens rival Lawson McCane and Labor candidate Roberta Albrecht went to battle in the seat of Moggill. Here’s who came out on top and what it means for people in the westside seat.

Queensland Election: Everything you need to know

LNP stalwart Dr Christian Rowan appears to have comfortably won the blue ribbon seat of Moggill in Brisbane’s inner-west, with a two-party preferred vote of 52.7 per cent in late counting on Saturday.

Despite a strong campaign from the Greens’ Lawson McCane, Labor’s Roberta Albrecht easily outpolled him to take second spot.

On the latest count Dr Rowan had 47 per cent of the primary vote, although that was expected to rise as prepoll and postal ballots were counted.

Ms Albrecht secured 28.7 per cent of the primary vote and Mr McCane attracted 20 per cent.

The issues dominating the campaign included rebuilding Queensland’s economy, securing and protecting more jobs, delivering better local road and public transport and also helping local schools.

Dr Rowan pledged to push for his key election promises to be delivered.

They included $4 million dollars for a new hall at Kenmore State High School, progressing the Kenmore roundabout upgrade and a $245 million duplicate Centenary Bridge to improve traffic flow on the congested Western Fwy.

Dr Rowan, who has held the seat since 2015, also promised to work hard on delivering his promises to give $275,000 to local creek catchment and environmental conservation groups,

$150,000 towards a new multipurpose community centre at the Brookfield Showgrounds, and

$270,000 in grant funding for a number of local community service and sporting groups.

Another key pledge he would work hard to deliver was extending the 444 bus service to the Moggill District Sports Park, while working collaboratively with the Brisbane City Council to fund and deliver pedestrian access to the sports park.
