The seat was held by LNP’s Simone Wilson who resigned last year.
The LNP held the swinging seat of Pumicestone by a wafer-thin margin of 0.8 per cent, but its one-term MP Simone Wilson has decided not to recontest.

Labor’s Ali King is attempting to wrest back the key seat Labor won in 2015 before its MP, Rick Williams, was disendorsed ahead of the 2017 poll due to a string of controversies.
The seat covers the areas of Bribie Island, Nigni, parts of Caboolture and Beachmere.
The key election issues that decided the vote were infrastructure, health and education.

Infrastructure
A re-elected Labor government will put $4 million towards the plan and design of a new Bribie Island Bridge. This is on top of the $21 million already set aside for local road upgrades.

Labor has promised to build a satellite hospital on Bribie Island if re-elected
Mobile Police Beats will be established at Beachmere and Bribie Island
Labor has pledged $35 million towards new vessels for volunteer marine rescue and coast guards across the state including the one based at Bribie Island
Education
Labor will hire 1200 teachers and an extra 120 teachers aides in the Moreton Bay region
Beachmere State School will get a new outdoor learning space
The special eduction block at Beachmere State School will get at $250,000 upgrade
