The LNPs Member for Chatsworth Steve Minnikin, the only Brisbane parliamentarian south of the river for the blue team, has won a fourth term in parliament, holding his margin after a strong campaign.

Ms Minnikin’s margin shrunk by 0.9 per cent to two per cent, with 56.2 per cent of the vote counted.

Mr Minnikin was first elected in 2012, part of Campbell Newman’s barnstorming campaign to leave Labor with a ‘cricket team’, but made his name in 2015 when he was one of the very few LNP members to hold their seat in what was a Labor stronghold for many years under the reign of former Deputy Premier Terry Mackenroth.

Mr Minnikin has flaunted his achievements for the community on his social media in the lead-up to the election.
