It was another walk in the park for State Treasurer Cameron Dick to retain his safe southside Labor seat of Woodridge.
LOGAN STATE ELECTORATE CANDIDATES: THE COMPLETE LIST
He entered the contest with a whopping 26.4 per cent margin and never really looked under threat.
Mr Dick kept his wide margin, defeating LNP’s Russel Bauer, who scored 23.9 per cent of the two-party preferred vote with 34 per cent of the vote counted.
Interestingly, the One Nation vote in the seat increased.
Only Robbie Katter, who was returned to the seat of Traeger, had a wider margin of 28.5 per cent going into the contest.
Mr Dick has held Woodridge since 2015, after a bumpy ride in 2012, when he lost the seat of Greenslopes.
He beat the LNP’s Russell Bauer, The Greens Valeria Bennett and One Nation’s Lann Valentine.
The win will mean his electorate will have to start getting used to his absence but will gain more decentralised policies such as the state setting up a services outpost at Meadowbrook, which was championed by Mr Dick.
It is also likely to mean more grants for small businesses in the area.
During the pandemic, Mr Dick encouraged businesses such as Evolve and Flowtech to reshape their manufacturing to fill a void in the supply chain left by China.
