IT’s game on at the Gold Coast casino on Monday, but it won’t be the roulette, poker or baccarat drawing in the punters.
The Star Gold Coast has been named Queensland’s official Super Bowl watch party venue, with NFL fans expected to pack in for the big game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The sporting spectacular is being broadcast on giant 10.5m LED screen in the casino’s Sports Bar in an event hosted by Gold Coast radio personality Dan Anstey and TAB sports expert Rohan Welsh.
The Star’s chefs are whipping up an all-American feast to go with the game including burgers and hot chicken wings, with the morning also featuring entertainment and a halftime hotdog eating competition.
The Star Gold Coast chief operating officer, Jess Mellor, said the Super Bowl was one of the world’s great sporting events, and private booths and tables had been snapped up within days of going on sale.
The Super Bowl starts at 9.30am, Queensland time.
