A young Stanthorpe mother is the latest contestant chasing the coveted honour of Apple and Grape young ambassador, in hopes it will help conquer her fear of public speaking.

Jasmin Ball-Mandavy is the third contestant vying for the iconic role and said it was her family and friends who encouraged her to enter.

“By becoming a young ambassador I hope to get my name out and around the community,” she said.

“I want to show the older community that young people do care about the region we all call home.”

Ms Ball-Mandavy hopes to gain experience to give her more skills and confidence when speaking to large audiences.

“(Public speaking) is the part that scares me the most,” she said.

When she’s not planning her dream wedding for 2023, the 21-year-old can be found exploring the local area through geocaching and visiting local attractions with her fiance and young son.

Ms Ball-Mandavy’s goal is to be an account manager with Cav Insure, who will support her Apple and Grape fundraising efforts as a sponsor.

Cav Insure co-owner Cara Cavallaro said she and her husband, Josh were excited to “help Jasmin gain a more personal knowledge of our region”.

“Both Josh and I have watched Jasmin go from strength to strength within our business over the past six months and to see her step up again is just so exciting,” Mrs Cavallaro said.

Apple and Grape president Russell Wantling said he was pleased to have local people backing the iconic event.

“To have another local business throw their support behind the festival is amazing for this region,” he said.

“Josh and Cara are all about their community, and I am sure they will help Jasmin achieve all she has set out to do.”

With only two weeks until the cut-off for young ambassador sign-on, Mr Wantling asks that those interested in entering the quest or involved in a business that would like to sponsor an ambassador to phone 0439 420 289.
