THE Zonta Club of Stanthorpe hosted its Yellow Dinner at the Wine College on Friday, March 9.
This function is important as it raises money for the causes Zonta International stands for - helping women get access to education, breaking down gender inequality, ending child marriage, eliminating domestic violence and raising the status of women worldwide.
The dinner was a resounding success, with our long-serving friends Angie Sims as MC and Anne Lindsay as our auctioneer.
One of our members, Sallyanne Keevers, spoke about the effects of domestic violence on the mental health of women which was informative and telling.
We were overwhelmed by the generosity of businesses and individuals who contributed gifts, time and money to help our cause.
These included the Wine College, Chris and Tamara Reedy who donated their beautiful decorations, Brad and Cheryl Hutchings from Savina Lane who give handsome prizes for lucky door and best-dressed, Josh and Cara Cavallaro from Cav Insure, Rita Gangemi from C and A Accountants and Gilda Brisotto from Power Tynan, all of whom sponsored our bubbles, members Edith Boccari, Deb Wilmot, Sarah Hume, Deb Debnam and Sonya Casley who all donated significant prizes, Trudy Turner from Country Lane Flowers and Lifestyle forlovely flowers, Leeanne and Fiona from the Commonwealth Bank, Colleen and Stuart Gow from SCG Produce, and the Stanthorpe branch of Heritage Bank who donated a lovely prize and tickets for some of their staff.
We sincerely thank all Zonta members who worked tirelessly.
We were delighted to make a profit of just under $5000.
