Boys Senior Cricket
The Senior Boys cricket squad have been competing in the Darling Downs T20 Cricket competition. After competing in our pool with St Marys College, Assumption College and Scots College, we won 2 of our 3 round fixtures and qualified for the final 6 teams in the tournament amongst 12 other schools.
Our match up in the final 6 was against Chinchilla State High School and in a great display of teamwork Stanthorpe State High School came away with the victory and will now play Centenary Heights State Heights School in a semi final, progressing to the final 4. If we are successful in this match we will progress to play the winner of St Marys College and Downlands in the Darling Downs Grand Final.
Rats!
Year 9 science students reinforced their understanding of the digestive system by dissecting a rat. While some students were a little squeamish, many students jumped at the opportunity for some hands on learning. Students worked in groups to identify body structures and explore how everything is interconnected. Many students were surprised to find out that kidneys actually look like beans.
AFL Skills
AFL Queensland visited some year 10 HPE students on Thursday, to introduce the game and teach them some new skills. Students participated in some modified games as the culminating activity, where they demonstrated their enthusiasm for not only the sport, but physical activity in general.
