This Stanthorpe winner was destined to be a bartender as bartending is in her blood and she loves pouring and enjoying a good drink with friends and family.
The Border Post teamed up with Matt Preston to find your pick for the best bartender and the people had a clear favourite.
Tammy Burns from O’Mara’s Hotel is your pick for Stanthorpe’s Best Bartender, and said she was elated by her “unexpected” victory.
Miss Burns has been bartending for nearly 18 years, but joined the O’Mara’s Hotel team in October last year.
“My family got me into it and I decided to learn (bartending) just in case I wanted to travel overseas, but then I got stuck in the job,” she said.
Miss Burns said she loves bartending as it allowed her to socialise and meet all kinds of different people.
“I love serving customers and having a good joke and laugh with them. A lot of (customers) become part of your family,” she said.
The mother of two said the trick to being a good bartender was serving the drinks quick, and being as calm and stern as possible with customers to calm any tensions.
“I do try and accommodate to everyone with what they want, and I really enjoy my job and I think that’s the key,” Miss Burns said.
Miss Burns said she would love to own her own pub one day so she can make her own rules.
Her favourite drink is a “good old faithful” rum and coke, but she said she loves pouring good beers.
Co-worker Jodey Wantling said Miss Burns was an awesome and friendly person.
“Tammy has a good heart and would do anything for us, she is such a good person and everyone loves her,” she said.
Miss Burns thanked everyone for voting for her and encouraged the Stanthorpe community to have a drink with her at O’Mara’s Hotel.
