After starting 18 years ago as a small factory, Stanthorpe Cheese Factory and Jersey Girls Cafe has grown to become a long-standing and admired business in the Granite Belt community, and now it could be yours.
With the previous owner establishing the cafe around 2015, in 2021 husband and wife duo Wayne and Julie Hope bought the factory and cafe with the intention of giving the building a facelift and bringing it back to life, with the business having since gone on to win awards for cheese production.
“It was really a matter of us believing in the cheese and we just started entering it into competitions, which really helped to validate how good the product was,” Mrs Hope said.
“It’s one of our greatest achievements for the business and now we’re ready to retire and just sit back and see where life takes us, we also own other properties around Stanthorpe.”
The factory boasts an impressive selection of 13 different cheeses ranging from brie, cheddar, roper and mature blends, with a brie selection awarded a silver medal in a Brisbane competition this year.
Around 12 months ago the duo attended a cheese junket in Tasmania, which allowed them to be exposed to the many different types of cheese the state offers and see how their own homegrown blends compared.
The business has been sparking interest from keen cheese lovers from further afar, with the couple hoping the next investors can take it forward and continue to build and expand upon the business, maybe even with the addition of a B&B added to the property.
The business is currently listed through Sage Business Sales and brokered by Patty Taylor for an estimated asking price between $2.2m to $2.4m. The listing can be found here.
