NAMED: Latest list of Stanthorpe drug drivers facing court

From a man who racked up his fourth drink driving offence in five years, to a teenager caught with Ecstasy in his system and LSD in his car, here is the latest round of people sentenced for drug driving offences.

From a 42-year-old man who's back in court on his fourth drug driving offence in five years to a 19-year-old caught driving with Ecstasy in his system and LSD tabs in his car, here are the latest Granite Belt residents sentenced in the Stanthorpe Magistrates court for drug driving and possession offences.

Angelo Doorley was busted driving on Sugarloaf Road in November withmethamphetamine and marijuana in his system.

Police prosecutor Steve de Lissa said it was the 42-year-old’s fourth drug driving offence in the past five years.

Defence lawyer Corey Cullen said his client’s drug use was the result of a tumultuous breakdown of his relationship with the mother of his children.

Mr Cullen added the father of three needed a licence for work given he didn’t “have the luxuries” of public transport.

The Stanthorpe man pleaded guilty to one count of drug driving and one count of driving while disqualified by a court.

Doorley was disqualified from driving for two years and nine months. He was also placed on probation for 18 months.

Cory Leigh Wilson’s was stopped by police on Wallangarra Road on April 4, where he tested positive to having methamphetamine and marijuana in his system.

The 31-year-old self-represented man said “it was a long weekend and I misbehaved and I shouldn’t have driven”.

He pleaded guilty to one count of drug driving.

The Stanthorpe man was fined $750 and disqualified from driving for four months.

Adis Zukic pleaded guilty to driving with MDMA (ecstasy) and marijuana in his system in February.

Police prosecutor Steve de Lissa said police also located 34 LSD paper squares.

Zukic pleaded guilty to one count of drug driving while on a provisional licence and one count of drug possession.

The 19-year-old was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for three months.

No convictions were recorded.

Damon Lee Geoffery Brien was intercepted by police at 10am on March 7 driving down Amiens Road with marijuana in his system.

Police prosecutor Steve de Lissa said a search of a Amiens Road property the following month located 3.9g of marijuana, a bong, brass pipe, glass pipe, scales and used scissors belonging to Brien.

The 23-year-old pleaded guilty to one count each of drug driving and possessing both drugs and utensils.

Brien was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for three months.

No convictions were recorded.

At 9am on February 19 Nyah-Kane Kereama Beau Terry was driving to his apple packing job on Granite Belt Drive when police stopped him and a roadside drug test showed he had marijuana in his system.

The 26-year-old pleaded guilty to one count of drug driving.

The Thulimbah man was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for three months.

No conviction was recorded.
