GOLDEN Grove Estate Winery has received another award for the trophy cabinet, taking out best tasting experience on the Granite Belt.

The award is part of the annual Best Cellar Door Awards for the Granite Belt with Gourmet Traveller Wines.

Golden Grove Estate winemaker Ray Costanzo said he had not expected the award and did not know the winery had been judged.

“It was just a nice surprise,” he said.

“I didn’t know it was on or that they’d come through.

“These are always the nice ones, when you don’t know about them.”

Mr Costanzo said the best part about winning without knowing about the judging, was that it meant they were being judged honestly on the product the way the customer would see it.

“It’s all about the product,” he said.

“The product sells us, the product is what it’s all about.

“People come back to but the product not for the label or the bottle but for the product itself.”

The winery has received a great amount of support since announcing the win, with many taking to Facebook to announce how excited they were for them, or even to say they would be in to buy more wine soon.

Other Granite Belt wineries which also won categories included Ballandean Estate, Tobin Lane, Symphony Hill, Savina Lane and Boireann.
