THEY say Disneyland is the happiest place on earth and for eight local dancers they're about to find out if it's true.
Dancers Susie Cobon, Megan Berlese, Tenille Abraham, Chenel Doorley, Indiana Doorley, Genevieve Gasparin, Abbie Fisher and Savannah John from MMStudios-Dance will be travelling alongside principal Michaela Sabburg to the US between December 7 and 15 this year.
Ms Sabburg said in America the dancers will have plenty of amazing opportunities, which include dancing in the Disneyland Parade in California Disneyland and
performing at Universal Studios.
"Our dancers will also have the opportunity to participate in dance workshops with various popular dance schools
and choreographers/ teachers in Los Angeles,” she said.
"The dancers and their families will also have free days where they can explore Disneyland and Hollywood, as well as baseball games, shows etc.
"Dance Around The World Tours also assist in planning any holiday extensions after the dance tour.”
The MMStudios-Dance students will be travelling and performing alongside The Dance Centre from Warwick.
Ms Sabburg said 18 months of preparation will go into this trip.
"This includes videos and show reels to audition for Disney, costume design and preparation, fundraising, lots of rehearsals and the general organisation that needs to go into an overseas trip,” she said.
To even be selected for the trip, Ms Sabburg had to film and send through a show reel and a few videos of the dancers to audition.
"Disney are quite strict when it comes to the performance quality,” she said.
She said the dance studio has started organising the first few fundraising events that so far include a Mother's Day Raffle and a movie night, with the date to be announced.
