THE Stanthorpe State High School Visual Art and History students recently combined to undertake an excursion to Brisbane to further their educational experiences relevant to their respective subjects.

The Visual Art students started the day at the acclaimed Asia Pacific Triennial Exhibit at the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art.

There was a spectacle of creations from emerging artists that explored a range of contemporary and traditional art mediums.

Art students concluded their day with a visit to Reverse Garbage at Woolloongabba, an art resourcing and education centre that repurposes industrial byproducts that would otherwise be discarded.

The History students on the trip also started their day at Southbank, visiting the Queensland Museum before trekking across the river to the heritage-listed Commissariat Store which was built in 1829.

The store now houses a museum that specialises in showcasing Queensland's history and is staffed and run by the Royal Historical Society of Queensland.

Overall, a frantic day of investigating and exploring across the city of Brisbane has helped the students make real-world connections to the content of their classroom curriculum.
