Wild weather lashes Kingaroy, Qld

Ten people have been evacuated from an aged care facility after it became inundated with floodwater.

Emergency crews attended Blue Care Ardmore Retirement Village on Day St, Stanthorpe about 12pm Tuesday to help evacuate the residents.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesperson said the building was completely waterlogged when they arrived but all of the residents were removed by 12.20pm and placed on the facility’s shuttle buses.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said the evacuation was precautionary and there were no injuries.

The rain was part of the downpour from a major slow-moving supercell which hit the state Monday, with more than 150mm impacting South Burnett.

Across the state the SES received 68 storm related call-outs with 72 per cent of requests being flood related. The South Burnett region had 43 call-outs and emergency services responded to 10 calls for assistance in Toowoomba.
