Stanthorpe police charge three teenagers over house fire in Cottonvale

Three teenagers have been charged over a devastating fire that destroyed a southern Queensland home. HERE’S THE LATEST.

Stanthorpe police have charged three juveniles over a blaze that destroyed a property earlier in the week.

More than a dozen fire crews attended the former service station turned dwelling in Cottonvale about 9.15pm Sunday, finding the building fully involved.

Up to 15 crews descended on the Granite Belt Drive property with the fire being described as “severe”.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said crews used breathing apparatuses and attacked the fire from the street bringing it under control by the morning.

The fire destroyed a significant part of the structure before it was extinguished, with fireys remaining on scene until Monday morning.

Paramedics were also on scene, however all occupants were accounted for and no injuries were reported.

A 15-year-old Thulimbah boy, a 16-year-old Cottonvale boy and 16-year-old Kirwan girl were charged with one count each of arson and enter dwelling with intent.

They were dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
