SHARE The Dignity has launched a new campaign to help women gain access to basic hygiene products.

Stanthorpe area coordinator Kylie Hibberd said the primary focus of the Share the Dignity charity is to support women and teenage girls who may be in a number of different, difficult or embarrassing situations.

"This may come about due to homelessness, domestic violence or simply having to choose between essential items and food for the family or feminine hygiene products,” she said.

"This can lead to a number of issues including absenteeism from work or school, which can have detrimental effects on productivity, learning and earning, a lack of dignity and self esteem in embarrassing situations, lack of confidence and an inability to just get ahead.”

Ms Hibberd is hoping the community will help donate to women in need. Collection boxes are at Maddie's Gift Gallery, the pop up homewares shop at Stanthorpe plaza and Curves Stanthorpe. Woolworths will donate 5 cents from every feminine hygiene product to Share the Dignity.

Items needed include non-perishable food, pads and tampons, shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste and toothbrushes, other essential hygiene products, baby and toddler items and school supplies.
