DRESSED in their naval whites, the Stanthorpe Navy Cadets from the Training Ship Kookaburra have impressed at their first parade and inspection.

Flotilla commander lieutenant commander Raelene Stephensen travelled from Brisbane to inspect the cadets and recognised how far the unit has come.

Whole Ship co-ordinator petty officer Peter Beacroft said the commander was highly impressed with the cadets performance.

"She made mention of a couple of cadets she was exceptionally impressed with,” he said.

"She recommended they be promoted to the next level, they're basically skipping a rank.”

Along with the commander, parents attended the event to watch the cadets parade with pride.

The cadets embraced all the activities, even some they'd never encountered.

"Our cadets all being very junior were credited as being superior to some of the senior cadets,” Petty Officer Beacroft said.

Children aged 13-18 years are welcome to join the cadets.

Phone petty officer Beacroft on 0418 673 298 for more or to arrange to a Sunday visit.
