CASTLE Glen have secured more wins for their trophy cabinet, taking out a number of awards at competitions this year.

This includes winning champion liqueur for the second year in a row.

“In 2015 we won grand champion liqueur manufacturer, which is gold, silver and bronze in the distillers awards, we also got voted in the top three distillers in Australia which was good,” Casle Glen owner and liqueur manufacturer Cedric Millar said.

“Then this year, two weeks ago we won grand champion liqueur manufacturer again with a different product.

“This product was a peppermint schnapps with 24 karat gold floating in it.”

They also won more awards this year than any other Australian alcohol company.

“We won one gold, one silver and five bronze,” Mr Millar said.

Mr Millar compared his wins with an Olympic win.

“Winning these awards is like winning a gold medal at the Olympics; that’s the significance of it,” he said.

The liqueurs were all internationally judged.

Mr Millar believes that what sets Castle Glen apart from other liquor producers is their lack of preservatives.

“We’re all preservative-free which is unique,” he said.

“That’s right from our wines right through everything we make.”

Castle Glen started 26 years ago as a winery, before expanding into most other types of liquor.

“There’s over 250 different products,” Mr Millar said.

Mr Millar plans to enter again next year with different products.

The products are all made onsite in Thulimbah by Mr Millar using local products.
