Stanthorpe’s McDonald’s restaurant has made a major McUnhappy change to its operating hours

The once bright 24-hour lights of the Granite Belt’s golden arches have suddenly dimmed after a sudden change in business hours.

What was once a 24-hour haven for truckies and travellers alike looking for a pit stop during their late night journey’s is now no more, with Stanthorpe’s McDonald’s restaurant making a change to their operating hours.

A number of residents took to social media to express their McUnhappiness over the store’s change from 24-hours to standard trade.

“Bro I walked there at 3am and it was shut,” Moc Jye wrote.

“This is what happens when the owners neglect the business and don’t value employees,” Terri McMeniman wrote.

“Yep! Not up to the standards of the previous owners,” Susan Quirk wrote.

A McDonald’s Australia spokesman confirmed the Stanthorpe store now operates between the hours of 5am to 10pm, seven days a week.

“This decision was made by the licensee, based on trading conditions and customer demand,” the McDonald’s spokesman said.

“Existing staff have been reallocated to other shifts and the restaurant will continue to serve up our great tasting, great quality menu during its new trading hours.

“We will continue to regularly review our trading hours based on customer demand.”

A job posting for more crew at the Stanthorpe store was listed on the McDonald’s Australia website on July 12.

With the Stanthorpe restaurant’s decision to cease 24-hour operation, truckies and travellers overnight will now have an extra 57km drive ahead to Warwick for their midnight Maccas fix.
