Revealed: Zest Pastries crowned Stanthorpe’s best bakery

After opening its doors eight years ago, Zest Pastries is proud of their rich history which now includes the title of ‘best bakery in Stanthorpe’

The Border Post teamed up with Matt Preston to find Stanthorpe’s best bakery and Zest Pastries was your clear favourite.

Owner and operator Emma Lambert thanked the Stanthorpe community for its support and recognition.

“It’s great reassurance knowing that the food we make is making people happy,” Mrs Lambert.

Stephen and Emma Lambert opened their business after noticing a gap in the market for bakeries that make and sell preservative-free pastries.

“We really wanted to change the way bakeries operated,” she said.

“We make everything ourselves and it’s really important to us to cut out preservatives.”

Mrs Lambert said she is happy with their continued commitment to producing quality pastries made and cooked daily.

“We try and support local farmers which supply us with fresh greens, herbs and fruits,” the owner said.

After going through a rough patch during COVID, Mrs Lambert said business has picked back up significantly now that people can travel regionally.

“I’ve really enjoyed seeing the same faces come in each day and getting to know people,” Mrs Lambert said.

The bakery owner said creating this business from scratch has allowed her to find out what she was capable of.

Zest Pastries recently celebrated its eighth birthday and sells more than just pastries.

“We sell puff pastries, pies, tarts, breads, sandwiches, bread rolls and salads,” she said.

“Our hot meat pies and almond croissants are very popular among the locals.”

Zest Bakery is located at 57 Maryland Street and is open 7am-4.30pm Tuesday to Friday and 7am-2pm on Saturday’s.
