BREE Tomasel is one of the lucky ones who has found a job she enjoys so much it doesn't actually feel like work.

Bree was born and bred in Stanthorpe and attended Pozieres State School and Stanthorpe State High School.

"I left Stanthorpe when I was 15 to attend boarding school in Brisbane," she said.

But while only living in Stanthorpe until her early teens, Bree will no doubt be remembered for her long string of sporting achievements.

"I had a massive connection with the Stanthorpe community, mostly through sport, I participated in every physical activity that I could get my parents to drive me too," she said.

"Futsal, indoor hockey, outdoor soccer since I was five, netball, basketball... You name it, I played it.

"I represented Stanthorpe in multiple sports but one that I probably remember the most is playing in the Stanthorpe rep soccer team, in which I was the only girl playing with the same group of boys for about six or seven years."

Bree finished her education at St Peter's Lutheran College, a boarding school in Brisbane.

Her love of sport continued and she went on to play in the Queensland softball team.

"I was involved in the Queensland Academy of Sport for a number of years until injury finally exhausted my dreams of playing sport professionally," she said.

Bree then went on to complete a Bachelor of Communication majoring in Public Relations and minoring in Journalism at the University of Queensland.

Since graduating, Bree has been working in Brisbane for radio station Nova 106.9.

"I started out as a Sandman, where I would drive around in a car and give away free merchandise to strangers on the streets of Brisbane," Bree said.

"I then became an announcer and am now part of a show with a strange fella called Gawndy doing weekend breakfast from 6-9am on Nova."

Bree is more than happy with her job.

"I think growing up, radio was always the dream that I didn't think was achievable," she said.

"But after a lot of early mornings and living off rice and bread for a long time I'm doing something that I really enjoy every day, it feels like I haven't worked in three years."

And while Bree is enjoying her life she still has many fond memories of her time in Stanthorpe - especially winning back to back premierships with Carlton United Soccer Club.

"That was a pretty special moment that I will never forget," she said.

Bree still makes regular visits to Stanthorpe to visit her family.

"I love to come home to Stanthorpe when I can, it's like an oasis to get away from the busy hustle and bustle of Brisbane," she said.
