THE Granite Belt Art and Craft Trail is enticing art lovers to the Granite Belt with an 'Ultimate Art Lover's Getaway' competition.
"Like a phoenix rising from the ashes of the Girraween bushfires, our community continues to band together, support each other and find innovative ways to attract visitors to experience the culture, heritage and natural attractions that make the Granite Belt unique,” event organiser Rosy Chapman said.
"Our Open Studios event will be held over two huge weekends in October. GBART will be giving one lucky couple the Ultimate Art Lover's Getaway, thanks to the generosity of Diamondvale Cottages and Ballandean Estate Wines.
"Entering the Ultimate Art Lover's Getaway competition is easy. Just follow uson Facebook and subscribe to our newsletter via our Facebook page. Winners will be announced on the first day of spring.”
The winners will enjoy two nights at Diamondvale's Camellia Cottage, located in a tranquil creekside location in Stanthorpe.
Built over 100 years ago, the retreat was converted from the original railway siding at Stanthorpe Station.
"It's a great base to enjoy the Granite Belt Art and Craft Trail's fully immersive experience of the rich tapestry of culture, talent, history and artefacts in the region,” Ms Chapman said.
Ballandean Estate manager Robyn Henderson said they were all too happy to support the art initiative.
"We are excited to get involved with the Granite Belt Art and Craft Trail event. Ballandean Estate will be hosting talented watercolourist Judi Pidgeon, who will be working her watercolour magic in a 10am to 4pm demonstration each day of the open studios event. Grab a glass of wine and watch her paint while you sip,” Mrs Henderson said.
Ballandean Estate has donated a winery tour, premium wine tasting in the Gold Club room and lunch at The Barrelroom to GBART's Ultimate Art Lover's Getaway competition.
The Granite Belt Art and Craft Trail - Open Studios Event will be held over two weekends and follows a trail map to discover a variety of local artists, as they exhibit at studios and galleries as well as taking up residence in community spaces.
